DISPLAY APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To provide a display apparatus which can prevent temperature rise and enhance the durability of a temperature detecting switch. CONSTITUTION:A display unit 1 where a plurality of discharge lamps 2 connecting a filament 2a to a preheating power supply 15 are arranged in the vertical and lateral directions is provided. The display unit 1 is also provided with a drive circuit 17 which is connected to a small output control power supply 14 and outputs a drive signal when an external display signal is inputted and a lighting control circuit 16 which comprises a switch element 9 being connected between a discharge lamp 2 and the main power supply 4 and closes when a drive signal is inputted thereto from a drive circuit 17 and is driven with the control power supply 13. The switch means 24 is connected between the drive circuit 17 or lighting control circuit 16 and the control power supplies 13, 14 and it is then provided in the display unit. Therefore, the generation of arc can be controlled by disconnecting the circuit in which a small current flows when a trouble is generated with the switch means 24.
