<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the automatic stop of a copying machine due to the sheet exhaustion when many sheets are copied by measuring the height or weight of stacked sheets and detecting the sheet remainder in a sheet feed section based on the previously calculated data. CONSTITUTION:The lever 8 of a sheet remainder detecting means is provided above the fitting section of a cassette 2 and perpetually presses the upper face of sheets 3 with its tare weight. A contact point 9 is fitted at the upper section of the lever 8 and is slid on a resistor 10 by the displacement of the lever 8, and this resistance value is detected. The detected resistance value is compared with the previously calculated data to calculate the sheet remainder. When multiple originals are set, if the detected sheet remainder is smaller than the required number of sheets, a warning is shown on the display section of a copying machine, thus requesting the supply of sheets prior to the start.</p> |
