PURPOSE:To form a lead oxide corrosion layer of necessary enough thickness in an interface between active material paste and a lattice unit in a short aging time. CONSTITUTION:Active material paste, with which a lattice unit formed of a lead alloy containing antimony is charged, is used by adding 0.02 to 0.2wt.% alkali metal sulfate (Na2SO4) or alkali earth metal sulfate (MgSO4). Relative humidity of the atmosphere during aging is controlled to 80 to 90%. Forming a corrosion layer is advanced by a local battery mechanism with a primary crystal 1 and eutectic crystal 2 of the lead alloy serving as the electrode and with free water in the paste 3 serving as the electrolyte, but since conductivity is increased by increasing an ion in the electrolyte, corrosion is quickly advanced. |
