PURPOSE:To call an object document image by visual observation, and to reduce a burden of a worker by extracting an optional area of a document image as an index image area and displaying plural pieces thereof at the same time, at the time of retrieval. CONSTITUTION:At the time of retrieval, when a key word is inputted from a command input means 11, a CPU 15 reduces the number of document images concerned. By inputting the key word, the number of document images concerned is reduced to 100 pieces (an underlined part 21), and 5 pieces (an underlined part 22), and thereafter, an index image area extraction (an underline 23) of all the document images concerned is instructed, and an area (an underlined part 24) of 1/40 from on each document image is designated as an index image area. In accordance with 5 pieces (the underlined part 22) of document images 5 pieces of index image area (underlined parts 31-35) are displayed, a retriever designates a number 1 (an underlined part 36) of the object document image from among them, and by displaying the whole document image on an image display means 13, the object document is obtained. |
