PURPOSE:To attain data transmission without revising an address of a secondary station before the extension by receiving a polling signal and sending its address to a primary station when the extended secondary station whose address is set by an address setting device exists between existing stations. CONSTITUTION:A polling signal P1 receiving a start signal externally is sent to the primary station 1. The secondary station 2 receives an address signal A(1) given later and sends a polling signal P2 to the secondary station 3. In receiving a polling signal, the extended secondary station 8 sends an address signal A(9) to the primary station 1. The primary station 1 recognizes the existence of the extended secondary station and processes the received address and stores it in an address table. The secondary station 2 identifies the address signal sent from the extended secondary station 8 and the address signal from the primary station 1 and stores the address signal A(2) given from the primary station 1 into an address buffer 25 after the reception of a polling signal P2.
