PURPOSE:To prevent generation of a coat resembling a pitted skin by separating external plate parts from vehicle structural members, applying an intermediate coat and a finishing coat to each external plate part set in a horizontal state and assembling these parts into the structural members painted separately. CONSTITUTION:A front fender 2, a rear fender 3, a roof panel 4, each door 5, 6, a hood 7 and a trunk lid 8 are separated from a cab main which is a structural member already primed of a vehicle body. Each separated external plate part is set in a horizontal condition and installed on a receiving jig 10 of a conveyor 9. After this it is caused to pass through a coating machine 11 to receive an intermediate coat. After this intermediate coating, a finishing coat is applied under the same facility configuration. In addition, intermediate and finishing coats are applied to the cab main along with the painting of external plate parts. Each external plate part already coated are assembled with bolts.
