PURPOSE:To improve the shape memory effect at and above room temperature, by specifying respective amounts of Ni, Ti, and V and applying heat treatment under the prescribed conditions so as to improve formability and reduce hysteresis. CONSTITUTION:This Ti-Ni-V shape memory alloy is composed of an alloy having a composition in which the value of Ni/Ti is regulated to 0.96-1.02 (atomic percentage ratio) and V content is also regulated to 0.25-2atom%. This alloy is cold-worked and then heat-treated at 425-525 deg.C for 10-60min. The above alloy shows remarkable shape memory effect at and above ordinary temperature (20 deg.C) and is reduced in hysteresis and can be formed easily.
