PURPOSE:To improve the quick photographing property of a camera by outputting a focusing instruction immediately after driving a lens when a defocused value calculated at the time of detecting a focus indicates near focusing. CONSTITUTION:When the defocused value indicates a prescribed value or less, i.e. a range near the focus, by focus detecting operation based upon a sensor device SNS, a microcomputer PRS drives the lens LNS on the basis of the defocused value and immediately instructs focusing without waiting the result of the succeeding focus detecting operation. After detecting the defocused value, the lens LNS is driven by the detected defocused value, focus detection is executed again at the position, focusing is decided, and a focusing instruction is outputted, so that the time required up to the focusing instruction when the luminance of the object is low can be shortened and the quick photographing property can be improved. |
