For semi-automatic firing with pellets or round bullets, the projectiles are stored directly in a row behind the barrel. The gas pressure acts on the front projectile. The feed plunger is stopped in its rearward movement and, after firing, forces the next projectile into the firing position behind the barrel, and is once again stopped in its rearward movement.
