Method and device for room surveillance

For testing the operation of a room surveillance system and protecting it against sabotage, an additional signal transmitter is provided which outputs a signal with predeterminable signal pattern which is received by the detector. The detector output signal and the signal controlling the signal transmitter are compared. A positive result of the comparison means that the room surveillance system is operating without faults and no sabotage manipulations are taking place. Although the operational test and sabotage protection device can be used for a multiplicity of room surveillance systems, it is particularly suitable for infrared motion detectors.
