PURPOSE:To make electrical contact of a current collector with zinc alloy powder and to increase battery performance by covering the surface of a negative current collector made of brass or copper-plated steel with a zinc alloy. CONSTITUTION:A high-purity zinc ingot is melted, and lead and indium are added thereto to obtain a molten zinc alloy having a specified ingredient. A current collector made of brass is dipped in the molten zinc alloy to cover the contact part of the current collector with a negative active material, then used. Specified zinc alloy powder or amalgamated zinc powder is used as zinc alloy powder of negative active material. A battery consists of a positive can 1, a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 3, a separator 4, a gasket 5, a negative bottom plate 6, a negative current collector 7, a cap 8, a heat- shrinkable resin tube 9, insulating rings 10, 11, and an outer can 12. Electrical contact between zinc alloy powder and the current collector is made good and discharge performance is increased. |
