A composite ceramic material having 3..7-4.5 g/cm3 bulk density, 93-96% relative density, 2,400-2,900 kg/cm2 vicker's micro hardness and 3.8-4.2 MN/m3/2 burst strength, is produced by mixing a mixed powder of titanium powder having at most 40μm particle size and boron powder having at most 2μm particle size with 5-30 wt.% titanium carbide having 1μm particle size or dilicon carbide having 0.3μm particle size, molding the mixed powder, and sintering it at 2-4 Gpa 4.0-5.0 KVA for 2-4 sec. The ceramic material is useful as hall-heroult electrodes.
