Packaging means for holding a bundle of hollow drill rods while protecting the threaded end portions of the rods includes a pair of metal caps each capable of enclosing end portions of the rods in the bundle, the caps each having a polygonal plate portion the edges of which are defined by perpendicularly bent over flanges, with gaps between the flanges. Steel strapping is applied around the flanges to compress these against the ends of the rods. The plate portions of the caps have straight-edged apertures which locate additional strapping extending longitudinally of the rods to hold the caps together at the ends of the bundle. |
