SEARCHING METHOD FOR SHORT CIRCUIT TROUBLE IN FEEDER LINE

PURPOSE:To realize early finding of ground fault trouble in branch cable feeder in the proximity of undersea branch unit in an optical submarine cable relaying system employing the undersea branch unit BU. CONSTITUTION:An optical submarine cable relaying system is constituted such that an optical signal is returned back to a terminal C upon detection of a ground fault trouble in the feeder from the terminal C connected with a branch line of a submarine branch unit BU. The means for returning the optical signal comprises a beam splitter and an optical shutter or an optical switch 2 for blocking/passing an optical signal split through the beam splitter.
