The invention proposes an expansion dowel which is intended for anchoring in a cylindrical bore by impact and has a conically tapering expansion region with a narrowing inner bore (6) into which an expansion peg (4) can be driven. At the free end of the expansion sleeve (1) there projects an annular collar (10) which has a peripheral cutting edge (11). On expansion, the annular collar (10) drives, by means of its cutting edge (11), into the masonrywork and produces a positively locking connection between expansion dowel and masonrywork.
