PURPOSE: To positively hold a seal in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction by having a locking rib held in an non-continuous groove and a sealing rib in compression fit against the sealing surface of a bore. CONSTITUTION: A sealing rib 46 is compressed when a seal 32 is installed in a bore, and seal-engaged in the bore. A locking rib 48 is also compressed so as to correspond to the inside diameter of the sealing surface 26 of the bore, when it is installed in the bore. The seal 32 is inserted inside in the axial direction, until an axial inner edge part 50 of a base member 34 abuts on the face 22 of a tab 14 and the locking rib 48 engages with a groove 30. The locking rib 48 is restored to have the initial outside diameter larger than the inside diameter of the sealing surface 26 when it is engaged with the groove 30, and it resists the axial movement and the circumferential movement of the seal, when it abuts on the axial outer edge part of a projected part 52 of the groove 30. Thus, the seal 32 can be positively held in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction. |
