The method produces an extended honeycomb core from sheet material unwound from a roll. This is provided with gluing strips(6) at regular intervals(A), and cut into strips(10) in the unwinding direction. The latter strips are then stacked with the gluing strips parallel and offset, pressed together, and glued together at their ends(P,Q) before pulling apart. The strips(10) are cut to a width equal to the desired core height, each being passed over a position detector(24), determining the position in relation to a first stack end(P) from the gluing strips. This electronically controls positioning drive and parting mechanisms(25,26), bringing the gluing strips between those on the strip below, and holding the strip at the first end(P). From this the two are progressively glued together, the incoming one being parted off shortly before the other end(Q) to give the desired width of the core.
|
