The coupling gear comprises four coupling wheels and three couplings. The first coupling wheel (10) is connected to the first camshaft and meshes with a second coupling wheel (12), which is located on a first coupling (20). The second coupling wheel meshes with a third coupling wheel (14) which is located on a second coupling (22). A third coupling (24) is located on the same axis as a fourth coupling wheel (16) with which it meshes. The fourth coupling wheel is connected to the second camshaft rotating at the same speed as the first camshaft. The phase position between the camshafts (2,18) is variable by adjustment of the angle between the couplings. The coupling gear is arranged on the side of the first camshaft driven by the drive component (4).
