A high level rear lamp for a car has a housing (14) fastened by the rim of the light outlet to the rear window. It has a light insert (24) pivoting about an axis with a carrier for at least one lamp bulb (28) and a transparent screen (30). The insert can be pivoted from outside the housing using a special knob. The insert goes in through a hole in the side of the housing. The carrier is held in the housing by a bayonet-style connection with at least one bayonet hook projecting radially to the pivot axis, with a corresponding recess around the hole. The carrier can be set in several discrete angular positions.
