PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a fiber, imparting a high degree of smoothness, wear resistance and resistance to a fatigue by bending to the fiber by treating the fiber with a treating agent consisting mainly of a silane- based coupling agent. SOLUTION: This method for treating a fiber comprises treating a para-type aramide fiber by a first treating agent consisting of a silane coupling agent having a mercapto group or an epoxy group as main ingredient, and then treating by a second treating agent obtained by blending a polyurethane A consisting of a polycarbonate polyol with an aliphatic polyisocyanate, a polyethylene oxide B having 1000-7000 molecular weight, a fluorine-based resin C selected from the group of copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene with hexafluoroethylene and copolymers of tetrafluoroethylene (hexafluoroethylene) with perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether, an ethylene urea compound D expressed by the formula (R is an aromatic or an aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; n is 1 or 2) and an organopolysiloxane E by a weight ratio of 0.34-0.70 A, 0.24-0.60 B, 0.03-0.20 C, 0.03-0.15 D and 0.003-0.10 E. |
