PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device of a cleanerless system capable of preventing a contact electrifying member from being contaminated with toner and without causing defective electrification and degradation of output-image quality even when a large amount of untransferred toner reaches the contact electrifying member as in the case of restarting the device after the interruption of the operation of the device due to paper jamming during development and transfer. SOLUTION: A voltage to be applied to the contact electrifying member 31 is the voltage superimposing an ac voltage on a dc voltage at least at the time of image formation. As for the application of the voltage, at the time of the restart of the device in the case the operation of the device is interrupted due to a paper jam during development and transfer, the superimposition of the ac voltage on the dc voltage is stopped, or the device is restarted after an ac voltage smaller in amplitude than that of an ac voltage applied at the time of image formation is superimposed for a fixed period of time. |
