PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate removal of a phase transition layer from a fixing roller, by dissecting a part of a protective film covering the phase transition layer provided on a periphery of a core bar, and then removing the phase transition layer being molten under heating through the dissected part of the phase transition layer protective film. SOLUTION: The phase transition layer 3 of the fixing roller 1 is removed, by mounting the fixing roller 1 on a supporting base 11 when the phase transition layer 3 is in an amorphous state, and rotating the supporting base 11 together with the fixing roller 1 as one body. Moreover, an annular slit 4a is formed by bringing a cutter 13 close to the fixing roller 1, and dissecting the protective film 4. Next, after making the fixing roller 1 supported by the supporting base 21, a heater 22 is allowed to generate heat. Thus, the phase transition roller 3, heated above a fusing point by the heat generation of the heater 22 through the core bar 2, becomes in a fused state after the phase transition from the amorphousness to crystal. Then, the phase transition layer 3 in this state, allowed to flow out through the dissected part 4a into a waste material receiving groove 21a, is removed from the fixing roller 1. |
