Process for treating crushed polyolefins and their use

New method (I) of treating ground polyolefins (II) deriving from used dairy product containers comprises treating (II) with H2O2, steam or NaOH to deodorise the polyolefin. Also claimed are grindings (III) resulting from (I) with no discernible sour milk odour. Preferably (II) is treated with: H2O2 at 60-110 degrees C for 30-180 minutes; steam (1-4 kg/hour/kg of (II) for 40-160 minutes); NaOH at 25-110 degrees C for 30-120 minutes; NaOH then H2O2 or NaOH and then steam. (II) is an ethylene co- or homo-polymer.
