The valve drive is for an engine with at least one valve (1) for each cylinder and a camshaft (2) with at least one cam (3) which is fixed against rotation but can be moved axially. The cam has a locking element (13), which when the cam is not activated, secures it against axial movement, and when the cam is activated, permits axial movement.
