Terminal blades mounted on flexible substrates

An electrical device (22) includes a flat flexible dielectric substrate (26) having a generally round hole (30) of a given diameter. A ductile conductive film (28) is on the substrate in an area at least about the hole. A generally flat terminal blade (10) has a transversely projecting pin portion (12) inserted into the hole in the substrate in contact with the conductive film. Therefore, the flat terminal blade (10) is generally parallel to the flat flexible dielectric substrate (26). The cross-dimension of the pin portion (12) is greater than the diameter of the round hole (30). In the preferred embodiment, the dielectric substrate (28) is less than 0.050 inch thick, and the difference between the cross-dimension of the pin portion (12) and the diameter of the round hole (30) is on the order of 5% to 50% of the diameter of the hole.
