The filling chamber (2), the press chamber (3) and the press piston (8) ar located in a first row, and a removal device (6) for the building block is also provided. The press moulds together, with the counter holding plate form the press chamber (3) and the second row is at right angles to the first. For staged movement of the press moulds within the second row a hydraulically operable piston the cylinder unit (16) is available. Each removal component (17,18) is in the form of a hydraulically operable piston - cylinder unit.
