摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device and method by which the operation and operating characteristics of a hybrid electric automobile can be made simpler and more efficient, by regenerating a battery depending upon the charged state of the battery. SOLUTION: The magnitude of the charging of a battery by means of an auxiliary power source 16 and dynamic braking inclines, depending upon the the magnitude of charging which corresponds to the relative charged state of the battery, when the charged state is between a partially charged state and a fully charged state. The insufficiency between the demand from a traction motor and the usable energy from the power source 16 is supplied from the battery in an amount, which corresponds to the charged state of the battery. When the battery is charged to or near the fully charged state, the insufficient amount is fully supplied from the battery, and when the battery is in a nearly fully discharged state, a small quantity of energy is supplied or no energy is supplied. When the battery is between a nearly fully charged state and a nearly completely discharged state, the battery supplies the quantity of energy monotonously relying upon the charged state of the battery. When the battery is in a nearly fully charged state, the charging of the battery from the power source 16 is reduced, while dynamic braking is performed. The quality of regenerated energy which recurs during the dynamic braking may also be controlled, when the conversion efficiency of the traction motor which operates as a generator is controlled.
