Disclosed are photoluminescent long afterglow phosphors comprised of alkaline earth aluminates activated by rare earths and enhanced by phosphors are expressed by the formula: M1-x(Al1-yBy)2O4-x-z:RE, wherein M is at least one alkaline earth metal selected from alkaline earth group consisting of Ca, Sr, Ba and Mg, and wherein -1</=x</=0.90, 0</=y</=0.5, 0<z<2, and wherein RE represents europium and at least one additional lanthanide which serve as activator and co-activator(s). |
