Process and apparatus for reclaiming sand

Regeneration of used foundry sand with synthetic resin and/or thermally affected bentonite bond material, comprises mechanically separating the latter from the granular base material. Used sand is fed into the vessel (9). The rotating receiver vessel (7) produces rubbing between sand grains belonging respectively to the stationary and rotating sand masses in the vessels (9, 7). Sand is conveyed through at least one gap (16) bounded by elements intensifying the rubbing process, by centrifugal forces. Bond shells are electrically unloaded by means of the guide elements (6). Dust is continuously sucked away, while regenerated sand returns to the foundry sand circulation system.
