PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer excellent in flexibility and compatibility, and useful as a flexibilizer compounded in electrical/electronic parts or rigid resins, by including carbon-carbon unsaturated bond(s) in every recurring unit, and also including epoxy group(s) in each molecule. SOLUTION: This polymer is obtained by including at least one carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in every recurring unit, and also including at least one epoxy group in each molecule. More precisely, this polymer is obtained by polymerizing a cyclic compound having at least one epoxy group and at least one carbon- carbon unsaturated bond in the molecule using a metathesis polymerization catalyst such as a compound of the formula (Cy is cyclohexyl; Ph is phenyl). By the way, the above-mentioned cyclic compound is obtained, for example, by reacting a cyclic compound having at least one carbon-carbon unsaturated bond in the molecule (e.g. 1,5-cyclooctadiene) with m-chloroperbenzoic acid to introduce an epoxy group thereinto.
