PRODUCTION OF OLEFIN POLYMERIZATION CATALYST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing in a simplified process a polymerization catalyst capable of producing polyolefin having a good granular shape in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the subject catalyst comprises mutually contacting a microparticle composition, a group IV, V or VI transition metal compound having at least one conjugated five-membered cyclic ligand and an organoaluminum compound; wherein the microparticle composition is prepared by mutually contacting in water a compound containing an alkali or alkaline earth metal and a microparticulate support >=2.0 in the half-value width of the diffraction peak in the powder X-ray diffractometry.
