PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the carbon substrate which has been decreased in substrate defects, is suppressed in causing of warpage and is utilized as a substrate required to have excellent flatness of a magnetic disk, etc., for high-density recording. CONSTITUTION:One or every plural sheets of disk-shaped molded articles are laminated by holding graphite spacers therebetween. This laminate is packed into a graphite cylindrical body. A weight made of a tungsten carbide is placed on the uppermost part of the laminate. The thermal conductivity of such graphite spacer is <=100kcal/m.hr deg.C, the bulk density 1.70 to 1.85 and the flatness <=10mum. The ash component of the graphite cylindrical body and graphite spacer is <=100ppm, the Fe<=10ppm, the Ti<=5ppm and the V<=5ppm. The resin molded articles are carbonized and burnt by heating from outside the graphite cylindrical body, by which the carbon substrate is produced. |
