PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize recovered ash which is one of industrial wastes and to provide a battery with high performance at low cost by using recovered ash having a specified ratio of carbon content. SOLUTION: Recovered ash containing >=50 wt.% carbon is used. The recovered ash with carbon content >=50 wt.%, an electrode active material, and at least one conductive material are contained, and preferably, the recovered ash exhausted from an oil burning boiler using at least one of heavy fuel oil and crude oil as fuel is used. The average particle size of the recovered ash is usually 0.1-200 μm in the state as it is or after classification. The particle shape of the recovered ash is not especially limited, but preferable to be globular, and regular recovered ash of porous globular particles having a specific surface area (BET method) of 1m<2> /g or more can be used. As the purification treatment for enriching the carbon content, simple, inexpensive washing is utilized and compulsive drying is also used. |
