The slide bearing is fixed esp. in a recess in the wall of an engine housing. The peripheral surface (6) of the bearing has at least one groove (7). When the bearing is fitted into its desired position in the recess, the wall (8) of the recess is plastically deformed, e.g. rolled etc. and pressed from outside into the grooves, to fix the bearing in the recess.
