PURPOSE:To excellently reproduce an automatic answering recorded message even if the transmission capacity of an opposite terminal is changed during a communication with an opposite terminal by storing incoming information in the same transmission format as one block. CONSTITUTION:A storage part 45 stores the incoming information in automatic answering mode (encoded image data and encoded speech data received from the opposite terminal). A system control part 42 manages the stored information in the storage part 45 by using a file management table. In a management table for automatic answering, received information is put in a file or block as to a transmission mode including a transfer rate and an encoding system is the same. Namely, when the transfer rate or encoding system is changed, even the same image information is recorded as a different file in the storage part 45. The encoded data in a specified file are read out of the storage part 45 according to the transfer rate at automatic answering time and applied to decoding parts 24 and 36 through selection switches 50 and 52. |
