PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic pattern recognizing method, an information recording medium, a magnetic pattern recognizing device, and a composite processor which generates an integral waveform from an obtained detection magnetic waveform of a magnetic pattern and recognize as numbers, symbols, or English letters a folded magnetic pattern and an unfolded magnetic pattern printed on a check form according to the position of a curve formed on the basis of the distance between two adjacent bars of a magnetic pattern consisting of patterns. SOLUTION: At a step S402, the detection magnetic waveform of one magnetic pattern is cut out of the obtained detection magnetic waveform and at a step S403, the cut detection magnetic waveform is integrated to generate the integral waveform. At a step S404, valleys of the generated integral waveform are searched for and converted into valley patterns of 'deep valleys' and 'shallow valleys'. At a step S406, the positions of the 'deep valleys' are computed, the relative positions of valleys in the width of the integral waveform are computed from the computed positions of the valleys, and a character is recognized from the computed relative positions of the valleys. |
