PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect polishing dust reliably in a dust box, miniaturize a casing, and reduce noise in polishing. SOLUTION: A casing 3 has therein a polishing drum 8 driven by a motor 7, and has thereon a book clamp mechanism 9 adapted to reciprocate while clamping a book 25. The inner space of the casing 3 is vertically divided in two by a drawer type dust box 5. The dust box 5 has a guide mechanism 38 including an opening 39 and a filter 40. A blower 6 is disposed under the dust box 5. The blower 6, when activated, draws in air above the dust box 5 via the opening 39 to form a weak downflow in the casing 3 from the polishing drum 8 to the blower 6. Polishing dust D thus falls in the casing 3 along with the downflow, and the total amount thereof is collected in the dust box 5. |
