PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a recording method in which image quality can be prevented from lowering by reducing the effect of variation in the dot forming position for each of a plurality of recording elements thereby suppressing shift of dot forming position between rasters. SOLUTION: In a recording system for recording dots on adjacent N rasters and dots on adjacent M rasters under different conditions by performing main scanning a plurality of times, P times, in the main scanning direction using a recording head having a plurality of ink ejection ports arranged in a plurality of rows, and carrying a recording medium at least once in the sub-scanning direction, a plurality of dot patterns used for the same level of image data are altered periodically. The plurality of dot patterns make uniform the number of dots being formed in each of N rasters and the number of dots being formed in each of M rasters in one repetitive period. |
