MULTI-LAYER CONTROL INTERFACE FOR A CROSS-CONNECT SWITCH MATRIX

A multi-layer control interface for configuring a cross connect switch matrix is provided. The multi-layer control interface includes a plurality of virtual control tables configured into a plurality of control layers. Each control layer includes two virtual control tables, an input virtual control table and an output virtual control table. The input virtual control tables are linked together by a plurality of virtual ports to form an input control chain. The output virtual control tables are linked together by a plurality of virtual ports to form an output control chain. The input control, chain is then coupled to the output control chain by a cross connect table. A processor associated with the multi-layer control interface executes a plurality of process control algorithms that independently modify the configuration of the virtual tables in each of control layers. The virtual control tables in the multi-layer control interface are then analyzed in order to determine the configuration of the cross connect switch matrix.
