PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which is capable of reducing defects due to repellence and has satisfactory quality and yield.

SOLUTION: The optical film is made by applying coating liquid comprising at least one kind of organic solvent, at least one kind of active radiation curable resin and/or at least one kind of organic silyl compound presented by the following general formula (a) or its hydrolysate and its partial condensate on a film substrate having a thickness of 30 to 200μm, wherein point defects of ≥100μm in a coating film formed on the optical film is ≤2 pieces/film 1 m2.
