PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make air hardly enter a channel from a pressure contact part between an ink cartridge and an inkjet head by reducing negative pressure imposed on the pressure contact part. SOLUTION: A first storage chamber of the ink cartridge, wherein a negative-pressure generating member is housed, is equipped with an atmospheric communication part for communicating with the atmosphere. Ink is not retained in the area, near the atmospheric communication part, of the negative-pressure generating member in the first storage chamber. A second storage chamber of the ink cartridge is substantially in a sealed state though it communicates with the first storage chamber via only a minute communication part which is provided in a position away from the atmospheric communication part. The ink being fed to the first storage chamber is directly stored in the second storage chamber. In the ink cartridge, the amount of an ink rich layer of the first storage chamber is adjusted by controlling the atmospheric communication of the second storage chamber, so that the negative pressure of the ink cartridge can be adjusted.
