PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple-optical-axis photoelectric sensor configured such that a beam lighting device and a light receiving unit can be operated in cooperation with each other while preventing a defect such as noise through the configuration of the optical synchronization system. SOLUTION: The light receiving unit 20 in the multiple-optical-axis photoelectric sensor 1 is configured to include a synchronization light emitting element 15, and the light emitting unit 10 includes a synchronization light receiving element 27 provided in a pair with the synchronization light emitting element 15. Then each of detection light emitting elements 11 is sequentially driven in response to a synchronizing signal on the basis of an output of the synchronization light receiving element 27. On the other hand, the light receiving unit 20 sequentially validates detection light receiving signals from each detection light receiving element 21 on the basis of the synchronizing signal generated by the light receiving unit 20 and decides a light receiving state on the basis of the validated detection light receiving signals.
