PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical system easily manufactured, excellent in environment resistance characteristic and having high optical performance. SOLUTION: The optical system has two dioptric elements j1 and j2 whose light incident side and light emitting side are both refractive surfaces and formed of solid material either ahead or astern of a point where an optical axis and a pupilary paraxial ray cross. When it is assumed that the Abbe numbers of materials of the two dioptric optical elements j1 and j2 areνd1 andνd2, the abnormal partial dispersibility of the materials of the two dioptric elements j1 and j2 areΔθgF1 andΔθgF2, and the focal distances of the two dioptric optical elements j1 and j2 are f1 and f2, the optical system satisfies conditions; 0.012<¾ΔθgF1¾, 0.012<¾ΔθgF2¾, 40<¾νd1-νd2¾, and 0<ΔθgF1/f1×ΔθgF2/f2.
