PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-directional control unit of a design improved in human engineering. SOLUTION: This multi-directional control unit (10) includes a lower body (12) of a shaft line (A), an intermediate part (26), a means (40) guiding radial displacement of the intermediate part, a handle (54) of a second shaft line (B) supported by the intermediate part, at least one switch (92a, 92b) and an elastically deformable bar (82) cooperating with the handle. The handle is disposed to axially slide between a not-operative upper axial position and an operative lower axial position. The switch changes its state with the handle displaced toward the lower axial position. The handle supports at least one strain gage generating an electric signal indicative of its radial displacement.
