PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact microscope that enables fluorescence observation and observation for visualization of a phase object.SOLUTION: A microscope 1 where fluorescence observation and phase observation are performed, includes an image forming optical system including a phase difference object lens 6 and a phase film 8 disposed on an exit pupil surface 7 of the phase difference object lens 6, and a transmission illumination optical system including a surface light source 3 that causes the light that is exciting light exciting a sample 5 and is also illumination light for visualization of the sample 5 to be emitted from a pupil surface 2 conjugated to the phase film 8. The surface light source 3 causes illumination light to be emitted from an area conjugated to the phase film 8, of the pupil surface 2 conjugated to the phase film 8. |
