A novel and useful adaptor for anaesthetic vaporizers is illustrated in which a sealed especially prepared refill bottle is placed with its coded cap in a cavity on a rotating body and is rotated into an inverted position, while a cam within the rotating body pulls the bottle onto sharp tubes and the bottle is pierced. Fluid then flows through aligned channels through the rotating body into a main body of the adaptor, and hence into the vaporizer. Equalizing air flows in the opposite direction. Major advantages include that no fluid may leave the vaporizer without a bottle being in position, and no bottle may be pierced unless it is coded correctly to fit into the adaptor; hence there are no open fluids during surgical procedure, and only the correct anaesthetic may be used. Additionally, a yoke on the bottle holds the bottle firmly enough that it may be left unattended, so that an additional bottle may be rotated into position to feed a full vaporizer and hence may serve as a reservoir, reducing the human attention required to deliverlarge amounts of anaesthetic during long surgery.
