POWER SAVING APPARATUS AND METHOD THEREFOR

The apparatus has an input device for providing an external input signal. A power supply signal generator connected to the input device generates a power supply signal in response to the external input signal. A power controller connected to the power supply signal generator cuts off operating voltages of a monitor when the power supply signal is not received for a predefined time. The power controller includes an operating voltage generator and a reference buffer for storing a reference time for performing a power saving mode. The controller cuts off the operating voltages by controlling the power supply when the power supply signal is not received until the reference time of the reference buffer elapses.
