[Also in Division F2] A timer, for washing machines, for example, comprises an electric motor and reduction gearing (not shown) coupled to a gear I which is in turn coupled via a gear 3 to a gear 4 loosely journalled on a hollow shaft 13. The gear 4 carries a single tooth or post 5 on its upper surface which rotates toothed shaft 6, and thus a gear 7, through a predetermined angular movement each time the gear 4 performs a complete rotation. The central portion of gear 7 carries saw-teeth 9 which are urged into engagement with corresponding teeth on a programmer cam 8 by a spring 10, such that cam 8 is stepped the same angular amount as gear 7, and sequentially operates a plurality of contacts (not shown) associated therewith. The cam 8 may be rotated manually by means of shaft 11, the teeth 9 allowing slip with respect to gear 7 and the motor drive. |
