A watch case of non circular shape, e.g. square, comprises a holder 1 for the glass 5 and a base 8 held in position by a detachable locking member 14, e.g. of ring form, having at least three projecting peripheral lugs 17 each adapted to engage in a groove 20 in the peripheral wall 2 of the holder 1, either or both of the two co-operating surfaces of each engaging lug and groove being helically inclined.
