[Also in Division G1] A thermo-element 16 is maintained in close contact with a surface 18 whose temperature is to be measured by a device comprising a cylindrical plug 1, screwed into a supporting plate 15, and a cylindrical component 2 mounted as a sliding fit inside the plug 1, the two being urged apart by a battery of cup springs 10, the component 2 engaging the thermo-element 16 and urging it into contact with the surface 18. The component 2 is provided with a central bore 6 and a number of slits 5 which are tangential to the bore 6 and extend to the exterior surface of the component 2, so that it is divided into a number of segments, which are radially resilient. In this way the component 2 is maintained as a close sliding fit in the plug 1, but seizure due to temperature changes or other conditions is eliminated. |
